About This Site
This site was started in July of 2005 by Dr. Robert A. Traina and Dr. David R. Bauer for the purpose of furthering understanding and use of the inductive approach to the study of the Bible.
Dr. Traina was formerly Professor of English Bible at The Biblical Seminary in New York (located at that time on East 49th St., Manhattan), and Dean and Professor of English Bible at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. He has been retired since 1989.
Dr. Bauer is Dean of the School of Scripture and Proclamation and the Ralph Waldo Beeson Professor of Inductive Biblical Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. Dr. Bauer was a student of Dr. Traina’s several years ago at Asbury Seminary.
Dr. Traina has written a book on inductive Bible study that has been used in colleges and seminaries around the world: Methodical Bible Study, which first appeared in 1952 and is now published by Zondervan. He and Dr. Bauer are presently co-authoring a volume entitled Inductive Bible Study, which will be published by Baker Book House.
The site will eventually include a history of the inductive approach to the study of the Bible, a full bibliography of inductive Bible study, a list of those who teach inductive Bible study around the world, discussions of issues surrounding the use and teaching of inductive Bible study, continuing studies of biblical books and passages employing the inductive approach, and a forum for conversing regarding all issues pertaining to inductive Bible study. These features will be developed over the next several months. Please continue to “check out” the site for these developing opportunities.
